Located just two kilometres west of Puerto Banus, the small town of San Pedro de Alcantara is one of the most traditional and attractive towns on the Costa del Sol, retaining its original charm and atmosphere in the face of flourishing global tourism. However, although San Pedro is a little different from the typical resorts of the Costa del Sol, it does have its attractions and proves quite popular with tourists who choose to explore their surroundings when staying in Marbella and Puerto Banus.
The beachside area of San Pedro boasts a wide promenade that is home to a couple of well-priced restaurants that specialize in seafood dishes, while the beach attracts a number of sun bathers during the summer months. In the centre of town, the main plaza is a pretty place to sit and enjoy a drink or some tapas and the maze of streets that shoot off in all directions are just begging to be explored.
Additional attractions in San Pedro include the pedestrianised main street – which has a good number of local shops and bodegas – and the cable ski lake towards the north of town; a fun and laidback place to hang out and test your water-skiing skills.
