Monda is a small, quaint and typically Andalusian, whitewashed village that is situated in the pretty hills just a few kilometres inland from Marbella. Pretty much off-the-beaten-track, Monda may be missed by many holidaymakers, which would be a shame, because its valley setting, tightly-knit streets, untouched way of life and fine offering of wonderful tapas bars are well-worth experiencing.
A blocky and imposing castle and hotel – MondaCastle, strangely enough – overlooks the town and provides great views of the surrounding valley, which is carpeted with the swooshing silver branches of olive groves and dotted with flashes of orange and yellow where the citrus groves sit in the searing sun. A stroll around town comes highly recommended, where a day spent simply sat in the sun, drinking sangria and eating tapas is a day well spent.
Additional attractions include horseriding, hiking and cycling, plus there is a paintball venue just a few kilometres away.
