Mijas Costa is a quaint and attractive coastal resort town that is situated just to the west of Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol. This part of the coast is extremely winding and rocky, with beautiful views snatched from the side of the twisting coastal road as the shoreline skips past. A typical village by the sea, Mijas Costa is extremely popular with British and Irish tourists and has a sizeable ex-pat community and all the associated trimmings that comes with it, ie, Irish pubs, cafes serving English breakfasts and supermarkets specialising in home comforts.
Which is not to say that Mijas Costa is some sort of British ghetto, far from it. The town retains its whitewashed charm and Andalusian way of life, with pretty plazas, tasty tapas bars and local markets very much in attendance. The beach at Mijas Costa is an appealing place to spend a day and evening, with the busy promenade boasting everything from souvenir shops and seafood restaurants to late night bars and quite cafeterias.
The summer months thrive with activity at all hours, while the festivals and ferias for which Spain is so famous are just as colourful and vibrant here.
