Hotels in Cortes de la Frontera

The small village of Cortes de la Frontera is located in the Serrania de Ronda Mountain range in the western edges of the Malaga province. Approximately 10km from Ronda, this charming village is extremely rural and breathtakingly beautiful, overlooking the dramatic Guadiaro Valley and wedged between the national parks of Sierra de Grazalema and Alcornocales.

The landscape is a mesh of cork forests and olive groves; splendid natural resources that helped make Cortes one of the wealthiest villages in Spain in the 17th and 18th century. Regal mansions and country houses built from that period of prosperity still stand proudly alongside the village streets, while much of the rest of the village boasts neo-classical buildings juxtaposed with traditional Andalusian whitewashed buildings, such as the Iglesia de Nuestro Senora del Rosario and the Casa Parroguial. One of the most interesting edifices is the Casa de Piedra, or Stone House, that is carved into a rock.
