Located a few kilometres inland from Marbella, the historic town of Coin is attractive, accessible and well-worth a visit. Its rich history pre-dates Roman times, while its recent history is a little less impressive and rather ignominious: Coin was the setting for the BBC’s ill-fated Eldorado series of ex-pats in the sun. But you can see why the BBC chose Coin as the backdrop for what it hoped would be a glamorous addition to its TV schedule – the town’s traditional makeup, beautiful location and appealing way of life are certainly iconic and definitely memorable.
The town has a rich array of exceptional tapas bars and restaurants, making it a great place to head to for a filling family meal or romantic dinner for two. Its streets teem with life throughout the day and there are a number of places of interest for tourists to visit, including the beautiful shrine of Nuestra Senora de Fuensanta and the main, tree-lined street and plaza.
